Time

March 10th, 2009 Posted in DIARY, My Writing Life, The Other Side Of Me

Thursday I have to go to York.  Friday - well, my present car is 10 years old!  I’ve kept them all 10 years - how many of them? Well that would be telling and revealing. With MOT, service, licencing all coming up I thought that cash could go towards another car so Friday sees me collect one I got my eyes on ten days ago. Sorry to part with an old friend that is running nicely but body getting a bit worn - something rather like me ! So Friday will no doubt be spent getting to know a new friend - hopefully that friend will take to me too and then we’ll have fun together. I like my cars. During all this I’ll have to plan a menu for two friends coming to lunch on Saturday.  And I’ll have to get on with a novel - writing it. Time? I’ll find it somewhere. If you are keen enough about something you’ll always find time no matter how busy you are.

May you have many happy years with the new car. I always get attached to my cars, too, and have been known to shed tears when I’ve said goodbye to an old one.

As for time, you’re right. And thanks for sharing that gem on my blog. If you’re keen enough, you’ll find time.

Enjoy the new car. I have a mobility car and have to change it every three years, so no time to get sentimental. It’s like a passing aquaintance rather than an old friend!

Shirley — Thanks for those wishes. I hope I have, then I will also enjoy those years for writing,– I’ll make sure I make time !

Judith — Maybe yours in the best way but I don’t think I would like to part with my car just after I had got used to it and it to me.

I know what you mean. There were still things I was finding out about when I had to take the old one back. You overlook a lot of things thinking you will never use them. But motability is a great system and really helps me keep my independence.

Just tried to look at your blog, Shirley, but couldn’t find it through the link here: am I being stupid? I must read one of your crime novels as a lover of such books. I love the Peter Robinson Inspector Banks novels.
