Antiques Roadshow

Yesterday I was in York for the Antiques Roadshow, held in the Museum Gardens. I had two interviews which seemed to go OK. The interviewers were great and all the team most helpful and obliging. Fortunately I had appointments otherwise I don’t know when I would have got through as the queues of casual visitors were extremely long. Interesting to see how it was all organised and conducted. Fortunately the weather was glorious so everything was done outside. If suitable my interviews will go out in September as part of the Autumn schedule.

Publishing Day

Two of my novels, by Jessica Blair,

SEALED SECRETS, and WINGS OF SORROW  published today as Digital Downloads by Hachette Digital.  Originally published in hardback and paperback by Piatkus

Writing World keeps turning

A beautiful morning. I went for a walk. Blue sky with a hint of whispy clouds and no wind. Peace and tranquility enveloped the countryside and me. It made me think that if everybody in the world could experience this there would be no trouble – we would all live happily together. But human nature does not let us. However there I was, experiencing it.

The novel has been in abayance  for a few days because of the editing of THE ROAD BENEATH ME. I was determined that before the day was out I would have it flowing again. I got coffee. Cleared up some emails, checked Twitter. Then the phone calls started! 6 of them and 4 of them weren’t short. One was inviting me to lunch on Thursday. This together with other two invitations means I’m out to lunch three times in a week! When will the novel really flow?

Well, there was a trickle this afternoon. There’s a lot of it in my mind. Just a matter of opening the flood gates, but they are a little bit stiff at the moment.

Incoming email told me, Jessica Blair has 11 Ebooks currently available. 2 Digital Downloads coming on 21st July and 10 more on 25 August. Hachette Digital. (Little Brown. Piatkus). So my writing world keeps turning.

Writing and Golf.

Worked on the copy-edited script of THE ROAD BENEATH ME yesterday and today. Got it finished and the relevant pages off to my publisher. Great relief that that is out of the way. Tomorrow it will be back to the new novel – well, the next 50,000 words to get me to the goal of 100,000. I did take some time off in the afternoon to watch the golf – so pleased for Daren Clarke– he’s been a good ambassador for golf and well deserves this win. A masterly display in bad weather conditions.

A Writer’s Life

I’m half way (50,000 words) into my new novel. Itching to get on with it.

Progress interupted by having to check the edited copy of THE ROAD BENEATH ME which is wanted by the publisher, Piatkus, by 26th.  Rain helped today – kept me indoors so I spent most of the time checking.  It should be in the publisher’s hands on time. Thanks rain.

Going to bed to do some reading –  The Day Is Dark by Yrsa Sigurdardottir an Icelandic crime writer. I’m reviewing her book for my newspaper column.

I’ve tweeted and now I’ve bloged.

A Writer’s life is never dull!

Write, write, write

It’s all go at the moment. Novel is nearly half way so progress is good. Just arrived – copy-edited script of THE ROAD BENEATH ME. Publisher wants it checked and back by 26th July. Books for review keep coming. so plenty of reading. It’s a great life!
For any aspiring writer – write, write! write!! and go on writing!!! – love it; be sure you recognise the chances when they arrive and grasp the luck when it comes your way.
